You can help restore hope in a part of the world where hope seems lost: more than one quarter of urban homes and over 90% of rural homes do not have running water or sewers; 80% of the population of Peru lives in poverty and suffers from hunger, malnutrition and frequent sickness. This harsh reality is reflected in the national infant mortality rate, which is 80 of every 1,000 children born, making it amongst the highest in South America. One in ten Peruvian children does not reach the age of five. Unemployment rates are staggeringly high. Much of the population lives in run down shacks.
Social assistance in Peru is minimal. Consequently, the contribution of charitable groups is essential. The Cordillera Foundation is one of these organizations and we are committed to making a difference in Peru.
